Which C5s have telescopic steering?
I'm looking to buy a C5 6mt and I'm 6'5". The length is in my legs so head room won't be a problem. I wish the seat went back farther but I can live with it. The main problem is my left leg jamming into the steering wheel because of the clutch. One of the reasons I'm looking at Vettes is because they have telescopic steering. However I sat in an 02 Z06 and an 04 Z06 and neither had telescopic. I'm wondering why some have it and some don't. Is it certain years, trims, or an option on any trim?
Thanks

My 99 Coupe has Telescoping Steering - It has Memory too so every time I get into the car and start it, it goes back to my last setting automatically and when I pull the key out of the ignition to exit the car, it goes forward automatically to let me out easily (it is a great option). I think it came out in 99 (but not positive). Mine has probably every option avail in 99 except Z51 suspension but I have recently added C6 Z51 sways & end links on my F45 Suspension and it is great now. (I know I got off topic - sorry)

standard equipment on the 04 commemorative editions (i believe it is for all models of the CE, cpe, Z06 and convertible). i have the convert and it was standard equip on it when new.
just a suggestion, but get yourself a copy of the corvette black book. it is full of great info and will cover each year and all it's characteristics from 1953 on. since you are looking for a C5, you don't need to get the 2010 version. the "used" copies on amazon are really cheap. even the newest version is less than $20. it's pocket sized and a real great reference item to carry around when looking at cars.

RPO N37 (Telescopic Wheel) became an option in 1999. It cost $350 and 16847 coupes and convertibles had it - it was not available on the fixed roof coupe (precursor to the Z06).
In 2001 - it was no longer available as a stand alone option and became a part of option group 1SC.
In 2003 1SC was the designation of the Anniversary Package, so it was included as part of the package - in 2004 it was the designation for the commemorative package.
It was never available on either the fixed roof coupes (1999 and 2000) nor the Z06 (2001 - 2004).
I hope that answers your question.

Exactly what I was looking for blacksedan87, greatly appreciated. From your post I googled RPO N37 and the second hit is a great site for Corvette specs. Thats strange its not offered on the FRC and the Z06.

Both of these cars (the FRC and the Z06) were considered the highest performance models, and options that were deemed unnecessary weight were omitted).

First thing to do is take out the "dead pedal". Its held in with 2 small bolts and any one over 6' won't miss it . Its there for the short folks!
You'll enjoy all the extra foot room and still be able to find a solid floor to wedge yourself against on the sharp corners. I'm 6'7" and find the C5 very comfortable to drive.

6'8" here and I have a 99 coupe. Telescoping wheel was a must when I was looking at C5s. Found one with pretty much every option on it including the telescoping wheel.

The telescoping wheel is a nice feature, especially when getting in/out of the car. Gives a bit more room for us old folks.
