So, I have a 2003 z06 with about 11,500 miles on it. I was driving home today, when I see my A/H and ABS light come one and the display says service active handling. Thought it was a bit odd since the car has such low mileage and use. I pulled into a gas station about a minute later to get a drink (I shut the car off). I came back out and started the car...no more error message. Is this something I should be worried about?
I bought a 2002 coupe with 25,500 miles, and I put about a hundred or so miles on it and the Service Active Handling, Traction Control System showed up on the DIC (went away and showed back up). After some B/S from a dealership I went on Ebay and had my EBCM repaired for like $65 with a lifetime warranty..It now works perfectly. If this code (C1214) shows up, your EBCM is toast
It's alright...I think the H means history. I had older codes that came on my car from the previous owner, but those problems were fixed. Check this out :http://www.stengel.net/diccodes.htm
I wouldnt buy anything......I had this problem and I read a couple of good threads on the forum.....Long story short I checked my grounds and the harnesses on the wheel hub. I disconnected the front driver side aired of the ends and put it back on walla the problem is gone. The reason why i did the front driver side is cause of the error. I was about to buy new harnesses but didnt have too. So try that first
Had the same problem my corvette dealer in the Toronto area Wilson Niblet attempted to convince me to spend $5800 as the only solution, ALL based on the code C1214 that they pulled.Criminals!!!!!.I repaired it,thanks to this Forum for a total of $300.I had to rebuild the EBCM.Shame on the GM delearship.
I think that you may get a few intermittent codes (C1214) as a precursor to complete failure. If/when it does fail Brandon at ABSfixer can repair your 2003 EBCM for $150. It is an easy remove and replace and you can still drive the car while it's in being fixed. I had mine done three years ago and it has worked fine since. If you visit his website you will see that the failure prone circuits are better than new after repair. Spend $$$$ at the stealership or get yours fixed for $150

Just had mine done at the dealership for a cost of $788.00 for the brand new ECBM and $212.00 for the labor the car runs great now i took it to the dealer because i still had a warrenty on the car but it was close because i only had one thousand miles left before it expired...the sales guy at the dealership told me his cost for the unit was $500...i asked them to give me back the old one and i put it up on ebay and got a hundred for it which covered my deductible...if u plan on keeping the car for at least a few years then i suggest go new...

After the codes cycle automatically you can then run them manually. Forget the process but it is here on the Forum if you search. I think you just hit "options" again to begin the manual search but maybe I'm wrong.
Or you could just clear all your codes, see if that does away with your message for now, then see what codes re-occur upon more driving. You may be looking at a '1214' code, which is normally a problem with a relay in the EBCM unit. That is fixable in several ways, no-cost on up.
Good luck, and please post back to the Forum when you get your problem solved; others may benefit from the knowledge.
