Default What is it worth?

New guy would like some help with pricing. What is a 1998 triple black convertible with only 8000 miles worth? It is in great shape and all stock.

Wildwolf is in the right ballpark... if it's loaded. As much as 98 can be anyways. No HUD available if memory serves.

Thanks guys, it is loaded for a 1998, and it is in perfect shape. It even has the crome wheels from the factory.

GM had no factory chrome wheels for the C5. Closest they came where polished thin spokes that, I believe, came out in 2000.

The optional wheel in 98 would have been a brownish gold magnesium wheel that was a very pricey option ($3,000).

They may have been GM wheels that were chromed but GM does not show an RPO for chrome wagon wheels.

It may have been a service or option available through the dealer.

The silver finish was the only finish, and only the one wheel style was available in '98.
But doing a chrome exchange was popular.

The option was through the dealer and it was picked up at the factory with the crome wagon wheels.

Thanks,
The vette only has 8000 miles and it has been in a garage all its life. It looks perfect. He is asking 20k for it what do you think? Is there anything to watch out for in a 98?

I've had my 98 for nine or ten years. It came with the chrome wagon wheels but, I replaced them with chrome C5 Z06 wheels. That made a world of difference in appearance.

The only problem I've had so far was the gas gauge sending unit was replaced and I replaced the battery. That's about it! It has 27K miles and looks and runs like new. It's been a great car and wouldn't even consider selling it. It's my second 98 vette. The first one was just as nice, but I got a wild hair and just had to have a 70 LT1. So sold the black 98 vette. I missed the C5, so I started looking for a pewter C5. After months and months of searching, I found my current pewter 98 vette. It's a keeper! There are a lot of trashed vettes out there, but when I saw this one I knew it was the one. It was a little more money than the other vettes I looked at, but well worth it in the long run.

Thanks,
I appreciate the information. I think I will get this one. I hope it is as nice as the one you have. I believe that it is.

If $20,000 is the asking price, offer him $17,000 and then find some middle ground. Sounds like it's worth the asking price though. The 98 I had was every bit the car my 02 is. Good luck and let us know how you make out
