So i found a way to lose both sets of keys in a week now i have no way starting my car. I still have the key fob just no car key. I know this is probably going to be very expensive but what do i do to get new keys?
well the first set i lost it all fob house key everything the secong time i go to my car to get to work and no car key everything else but no car key. So whats the least expensive way to get a new key?
yeah but thats just the fob it takes like 30 seconds to programm one ive done that. So good news just called the dealer and set up a appointment for a new key to be cut for 45 dollars. lots cheaper than i thought it would be.
Not sure if this will help or not, but I had to have a key made from the VIN for my Honda. This key also has the radio chip/transmitter inside it.
It cost $49
You will have to have your ID as well as either the title or registration for the vehicle before they'll do it.
yeah he told me that. Since i have the key fob still i will be able to get these out of my car. I was thinking around 200-300 dollars because my good friend has a mustang lost both his keys and the dealer charged him 375 dollars for a new key.
The key blank will be the most expensive part of the equation.
It'll take them all of about 5 minutes to cut a new key using the VIN number.
I can't imagine a C5 key blank being over $75, even with the Corvette tax included. You'll still have to pay for the 5 minutes of labor to cut the key, but it shouldn't be THAT much.
