Does any member know where the best price on Melrose
complete Smooth Flow system-coated headers,hi-flow cats,x-pipe,bolts,and clamps.
I have been searching and have not found a good sale price. From what I have been reading they are about the best header system for a great upgrade.

It is a matter of what you like, some people like LG some people like Kooks and some like ARH. Is there a best out of the bunch??? I guess it is a matter of opinion.

They may claim big numbers performance wise - though not any more than what I've seen with Kooks, I think it is important to note that these headers are not made of 304 Stainless - it is aluminized metal.
Kooks, ARH and LG to name a few are all 304 stainless, as are most of the higher quality cat-back systems.
So when comparing prices and performance, make sure that you are comparing apples to apples.
My tuner recommened them as well. Great header and they look perfect (only been a year though). Also bought the cats and x-pipe. I don't recall what I paid for the set as my tuner ordered them. I was about $2400 out the door (tune included).
I live ~ 45 miles from their shop, drove over there picked up a set and paid cash.........helluva' deal
Thanks
Jim
Don't have their headers but did the same deal on a targa top. Drove there, paid cash and got new lexan panel on a GM frame for what I have seen people ask for used tops on this forum.
It is my understanding that the 304 stainless headers will crack over time from heat expansion and contractions, Melrose chose not to use stainless for this very reason. ??
"Melrose Smooth Flow” as
result of their having no sharp bends
and unique low restriction one piece
extruded collectors are constructed by
hand to the highest of standards. Headers
are constructed using aluminized
low carbon steel eliminating the risk of
cracking commonly seen with stainless
steel headers. Headers consist of 13/4”
primary tubes (17/8” for C6 Z06), 3/8”
thick CNC cut flanges, and 3” collectors. They are finished off inside and out with
a heat resistant sterling silver ceramic
coating. Ceramic coated headers have
been proven to increase performance
by promoting cooler intake air/fuel
charges as well as reducing damaging
heat radiation into the engine compartment
by 60°.

You know - sometimes this place just doesn't feel like it used to. There was a time that a vendor could participate in a thread, express an opinion, or exchange/offer information without having comments like the one above.
I guess it's hard to imagine that a vendor could be a Corvette owner and enthusiast and participate at that level, and not always posting items and products for sale.
As Nick stated - I did not offer an alternative product, and while I do not sell headers on my site (and never said I did), it is still possible that I might have an opinion on the product that is the topic, and that I might have some experience as a Corvette enthusiast worthy of being shared.

I would not worry about it. There are a lot of younger crowd here these days that could not drive or afford a vette 10 years ago.
They obviously know more about life and cars of course.

I'm not worried - and my feelings aren't hurt. It would take A LOT more than a simple comment like the one I quoted to upset me. Thanks for the support - and thank you Jim for your support.
