My emblems have small chips in the paint. They should be silver, but there's some black showing in the corners.
Has anyone retouched these with a silver yet? I really don't want to buy new ones since they're $100/ea from the stealership. Both my emblems are in the same shape. If it wasn't for these little black spots, they'd be in perfect shape.

I've retouched mine several times using a silver paint pen, sold in hobby stores. Works great!
Any specific color? Or do I just ask for "silver paint pen"?
It's made by Testors, and is called a paint Marker. There is no color designated, but it has a silver cap, and the paint is a metallic silver.
It is made for use on plastic model kits, but works great on the Corvette emblem.
I've had this for several years, so it may be packaged and/or labeled differently now.
Looking at the picture I would say they have been painted before.
You're probably seeing the wax around the emblem. I noticed that after I took the picture. I took that picture the day I got the car and it looks like that area was never detailed right. It's since been taken care of.

Awesome... thanks guys.
I'll head over to the hobby shop and see what they have.

is the 50th emblem that much more..i can get them for my 99 at the dealer ship for about 50...
I picked up a silver paint pen and did the retouch and the color blends great... I'm going to do a little more detailing to it since the paint pen was hard to aim (I got some on the part that didn't need retouching) and there's a tiny rise in the paint. Going to sand it down and retouch again to see how it looks. Seems the old paint on it was literally peeling off.

A very timely post for me - I've got several areas on the front emblem on my car that needs touching up too. Will try either the paint pen or the Dupli-Color stuff.
BTW, Gene at gmpartshouse.com sells the emblem for about $75.
One bit of advice. Before using the pen, use a paper towel and get most of the paint off the tip. You want to use Very little, just enough to hide the black. If there is too much on the tip of the pen, it will form a blob of paint, and may run down onto the body color. Remember, less is more!!
