Okay so I finally decided to paint my lower bumper. I think a satin will give me the best look. I bought two different spray paints and I'm not sure which one to use. I need some input. Please give me reasoning with your answer.
I used Valspar Plastic Primer and Paint. It came out very nice. I was told to use a paint thats specifically for plastics. Just make sure your tape job is absolutely perfect or it is going to look goofy. Also, let the coats dry for a while in between. I sprayed my second coat too soon and it ran. Its a very satisfying mod when done right. Good Luck !
use the bumper coating! thats exactly what i used. scuff the area real good no need for primer as scuffing etches the area so that the bumper paint bites and holds. the finish is really nice as well!!

Would you say that the color was a satin or more of a gloss. I'm going for the shine you see on the lower bumper of a pontiac GTO but in a deep black.
Also do you have any pics?

Perfect I wanna get started on it tomorrow. Got any tips or advice?
take your time taping it and use the green 3m tape. mask off the rear of the car including quarters and trunk as well as anything underneath the car altho if you have laquer thinner you can apply that on a rag and wipe off any overspray on anything under the car as that wont effect anything under there

Also I would wipe it down with wax and grease remover before you scuff it, then again right before paint.. The new blue 3m tape is even nicer.. More flexible and easier to do the curves....

Is green better than 3M blue painters tape. I just bought he 3/4 in.
Either green or blue will work fine. Best bet is to use stripping or pinstripe tape to make your edges and then mask to those. Easier to bend the thinline tape than the wider masking tape

Green is better for automotive apps.. When I first responded I was thinking fine line 1/8" for your initial edge. 3m makes green + blue, the latter is very good, it curves without lifting at the edges with no bleed thru right at the paint edge.. Hope this helps.....Jay
i used denatured alcohol which will work fine for the cleaning before and after the scuffing of the rear. and to the guy who likes my bama plate....thanx
Have you thought about painting the rear of the aluminum carriage behind and below the diff? Im talking about the area where the jack stands are positioned in the above photos.

no i did however paint the rear sway bar torch red which added to the rear without over doing the rear.its a great lil cheap mod that adds to the look of the rear .
Gitusum,
I like the red sway bar, and your lower bumper. Is your car Magnetic or torch? Looks like Mag red in the photo. I was thinking of doing the lower bumper on my Mag red, and I may do the sway bar like yours.
