Default Bottom Seat Foam Replacement

I have a 2001 and I need to replace the drivers side bottom seat cushion and the skin. Has anyone out there done this and is there one of those good procedures around?

Thanks
Wayne

a lot of threads on the subject. do a search. I know you can buy foam in sets & pieces. but I think the skins only come in complete sets. and there is a great DIY thread on how to install. G/L

Look on Vette Essentials web site for the seat cover install instructions.

Vette Essentials also has the best price for a complete set of foam for both seats, they were out of stock when I was ready to do my seats so I paid dealer price. DJ Motorsports now sells seat bottom foam at a rock bottom price, I think they sell just the bottoms. Good luck with the project, it looks intimidating when you see the instructions but it's not as bad as it looks, just take your time.

I just did this using a new bottom from Dave at DJ Motorsports. Took about an hour to do.

Two tips, tumble your seat skin in your dryer at med heat for a couple of minutes just before you reinstall it. Makes it easier to install and fit over the new foam. Also, if you have an electrical panel on the seat side, make sure you cut the new foam to allow for the panel or you will have fit issues.

Here is a tip, put the old foam bottom cushion inside the new one.. cut off the skirt first... this will give you a slightly better fit and comfort density.you wont visually notice any difference

Cover the wire "springs" with canvas or burlap to protect the bottom of the foam. Without it, the wires cut into the foam and you are soon sitting on the wires.

You'll really like the new foam. It makes it feel like a new car.

While I did do this when I replaced my foam last month I also noted that my 11 year old 99 with 57k did NOT have any cuts in the seat foam. There were impressions of the wires, but none broke the surface of the foam.
