I purchased my '99 Convertible used. I know it was rebuilt in the rear due to a tree (or pole) crashing on the back end of it. They changed the trunk and the top, and they did a hell of a job, because I can tell what is factory and what was painted. Anyway, to open the cloth roof and fold it into the trunk, I have to pull on a little steel cord to open the rear hatch that covers the roof. The cord is bare with no handle or anything, so my question is: are they all like that or is there some type of handle at the end of that steel cord?
I have a 99 vert too and there should be a button on the bottom of the cover pretty much behind the door side of the drivers seat that activates a relay to unlatch the tonneau, also when you push the button the windows go down, don't know if the steel cord you refer to may be an emergency release in case the battery dies
theres a button that you n ormally push..its located at the 1 or 2 oclock position if ur facing the drivers seat....man im slow several answer by the time i get mine typed...
I knew I loved this forum! Thanks guys, I never knew the button was there. LOL! I used that cord becuase that's what the previous owner showed me. I wonder what else I don't know? Did you guys get a manual with your vette or was it a VHS or DVD? Is it downloadable any where online? Thanks.
