The answer to your question as stated is very simple. IT DEPENDS!
It depends on the diameter of the wheel. It depends on the width of the wheel. It depends on whether the car is lowered or not and if lowered, how much. No "one number" will work for every situation.
although diameter of wheel has no effect on backspacing if you size the tires correctly (same as stock, upsizing like this: stock is 245/45/17, if you go to 18s its 245/40/18 to maintain same diameter)
Realize that 56mm is for a 8.5 wide rim, a 56mm backset on a 10" rim is a deeper rim and will protrude in towards the motor side more. You may get away with 12mm deeper (or 1/2") before you start rubbing on things back there
Simple backspace formula is wheel width divided by 2 plus the offset plus 12mm (1/2") Figure every 6mm is 1/4" (or you can google 'mm to inch calculator')
