Clear Bra replaced today
Got my 3M Clear Bra replaced today after a kid on a bike clipped the front end of my car and left a tire mark on it. The 6 year old bra had started to turn yellow but protected the paint anyway! The replacement bra has a lifetime warranty on fading so it should be good for a long time. This investment is well worth the money!

Down here in FL, we have "love-bug" season. They are everywhere and yes, it does make removal and clean-up easier. Plus, they never get to the paint! I had the old film removed and a new film installed for about $500. For me, it is well spent money.

Looks much better, I don't have any faith in the clear bra, Every one I have seen yellowed after time, Maybe this gen is different.
Good Luck.

The acid gut these little bastards spill out really damage your paint if you leave them on too long. I have a longer commute in my daily driver and I hose the front off every night just to keep them from settling in.

Yes love bug season part A is just getting started too. I think we go until the first or second week of June. Part B comes in September.
That looks pretty good. You'll have to keep us updated on how well this version holds up.

The clear bra on my car has prevented more than a few problems from happening to my paint. Good investment IMO.

The new film installed is called VentureShield and comes with a lifetime warranty against fading. The old one was 1st gen stuff, 6 years old. The old film came off just fine. The installer used a steamer to heat up the old film and cause the adhesive to loosen up. It peeled off in one big sheet. I used to drive my car to work and park it outside more often than I do now so that may have contributed to the fading/yellowing. I just hope the new product lasts as advertised, although it still provides excellent paint protection regardless.

Had my wife's RAV4 done about three years ago, when it was new. Put the coating on it they recommended, "Plexus", several times and the bug juice just seems to saturate the plastic. You couldn't scrub em off with a sander........ This told me NOT to use this clear bra on my vette.

The yellowing you are seeing is caused by contaminants staining the film. Yellow film is just dirty. Oils from the road, diesel smoke, pollution, etc. are all to blame.
It's really no big deal. Much like you need to put a little Oxyclean or bleach in the wash with your whites to keep them looking new, same goes for paint protection film if you install it on a white car. If it is cleaned regularly, it will stay looking new. Also a good bet to put a purpose made sealant on the film to slow down the absorption of the contaminants. This will ensure you have plenty of time to wash the car before there is a problem. Cleaners and sealants can be seen here.

$500? I thought it was under warranty? Shouldn't they pay for that? If its $500 every-time to remove it after a few years, I'd rather have it painted...
Sheesh, I had the front bumper of my 2002 Camaro SS painted for $350, color matched perfectly..

Thats why I removed it from my C5. I have had to replace portions of the clear bra several times due to rock chips and it was expensive. I can have the nose repainted for less.
