Default Best Air intake?

Hello,

I have read a lot of posts of Air Intakes, But I am still not quite getting a definative answer. It sounds like most people are getting about a
10HP increase from after market air filters. Some manufactures are posting ridiculous HP results. Are they all about the same? or air there any that are clearly better then others? I am interested in the BROTHERS because it comes with an aluminum tube which I like. I don't think the Vararam will work on mine because of my custom bumper. If there are some that are clearly better then others I will get that one.

Let me know.

Here is a quick rule of thumb, anything is better than stock, hp increases are there if you also work the exhaust so you can get a better flow, cat back, etc. I've only noticed my vette can get up and punch it better than stock. Prior on a stock air cleaner, it sounded like the vehicle had a hand over the intake, it was trying to get air to feed my demands. To really gain, you would have to get a Z06 cam to increase the duration the valves stay open to get all that extra air into the piston chamber. The engineers did a great job, you're just doing what they wanted to do but due to cost couldn't. Good luck....

I had the breathless performance vortex rammer... That was actually quite a good intake. I have the Vararam now which I love, but like you said, you have a custom bumper.

I'd try the Vortex Rammer. You have to cut the radiator shroud, but it really does work well and is dyno proven.

This is a topic that has been flogged to death:

I say the Callaway Honker is the best choice if you care about fit and finish as well as performance. Also has a CARB #

The best CAI is going to be whatever someone has on their car. They all have the same concept. Like someone said anything is better than stock. I use a aFe stgII CAI bigger filter and much bigger air bridge($200 ebay). The blackwing is also a good one. I dont like the idea of cutting stuff off my car to put a CAI on.

There is no definitive answer because "the best" (of anything) is different in everyone's subjective opinion. Keep in mind that others opinions might also depend on their budgets.

Make a choice. Like shifters, some people change their air intakes as often as their shifters...or underwear.

Blackwing and others like that are not a CAI (cold air intake). They just suck HOT air from the engine compartment. Other words they are a air filter that breaths better. That is why I went with a Vararam it is a true CAI.

Halltech...

Huge improvement in throttle response.
Easy installation.
No codes.
Looks clean and professional.
Reasonable price.

I wouldn't trade it for any intake on the market.

It is generally accepted that the Vararam will give the best power increase - but with a custom bumper, it may not work for you.

I have the Blackwing and like it - easy to install and no codes thrown. Have never had the car dyno'd though to tell what, if any increase in hp there was.

I guess this is what I am after. Why are you on your 3rd. Is one a lot better then the other? was number 2 better then one and if so why buy a 3RD?

You never had it dyno'ed but did you experience a noticable difference?
