probably from the pure cost of these tires-way too cheap, something must be wrong
However, if you read the reviews of these two makes of tires, they aren't bad. And when you factor in cost, they're great!
I agree to a point that you get what you pay for. But, there are also times when a bargain is really a bargain.
If you don't track your car, weekend/DD only, most of these tires will be more than a good investment for 90% of Corvette owners.
Remember, Kuhmo, Nitto, and Hankook were "never on my Corvette"" tires at one time too.
JMO....

You may be right, and I'm not opposed to 'spending less'. I'd like to see a couple reviews from Vette owners here. I'd like to track my C5, and am thinking of these cheaper tires going on my stock wagon wheels for the track vs. tearing up my new chromies and Khumos.

For the track, you want something with a lot of stick to it, not a regular street tire. Well, that is if you're gonna do some serious tracking. If you just want to take it for a spin or two around the track, and not push your car to the limit, then some cheap tires on your wagons would be fine.
We sell the **** out of Nexens at work, they're a good economy tire. I would not recommend them for a track tire at all. If they were going to be your street tire, then I might suggest it if you didn't plan on pushing your car much.

I have the Nexen tires on my 06 VW GTI. I drive the crap out of it ! I have had that thing on 2 wheels before in turns....
My original Continental tires lasted me 28K miles. Tire rack wanted 225 per tire...
I now have 13K miles on my Nexen's. They were $80 per tire.
The Nexen's had 10/32nd's when new, and after 13K miles they still have 7/32nd's. I figure I'll get more life out of them than my original tires.
They are great in the rain, and I find that they hold the road at least as good as my original Continental.... Only difference is that I payed 2/3 less money for them.

When I was shopping for rears I looked into Nexen. Only problem is they don't sell a stock rear vette size unless they started to in the last year. Ended up with Falken 452's and haven't regretted saving money yet.
They were on my Ford Focus ST when I bought it - drove well enough but had bad flat-spotting in the cold - may not be an issue depending on where you are locared...
Had a set on my '02 Mustang GT back around the time this post was originally written lol..... They were on a set of 18" saleen replica wheels that came mounted and balanced as a package. I only drove with them in the summer but the car handled great for a SRA/ancient chassis design car and I had zero complaints with them..... I think Kubs post above speaks for itself as well. If you are expecting Pilot Sport Cup performance at the price of a Nexen I think you will be unhappy.... If you are expecting decent performance from a budget tire, I think they are a reasonable option.
