Default Radar & GPS windshield placement??

Hi

For my trip from NJ to Atlanta l plan on hooking up my Escort Passport 8500 X50 and Garmin GPS. The question is where is the best placement
on the windshield. Like lower or higer, center or off center!

Can l also put them next to each other? I was thinking that being that the trip is mostly one road the GPS would be useless unless we hit an accident where we had to go around it.

I ordered Escorts new window mount and their split 12V to use for both.

I know there is a 12v in the center console but it would mean a cord going from the windshield to the console.

Thanks

Alan

PS l know about the laws in Va. and DC

I mount my GPS in the lower driver's side windshield position - makes it easy for me to glance at it while driving. Don't have a radar detector, but if I did, I would probably mount it in the center of the windshield, near the bottom.

i used to mount my garmin as high as i could on the center of the windshield under the rear view mirror so that i saw it and the rear view mirror at the same time if i wanted to. i always use the mirror to stay aware of everything around me to the rear just in case i need to change lanes quickly or move over for emergency vehicles, etc. i say used to because i went to a double d bezel mod and a pioneer z110 with built in NAV, satellite radio, etc so now i only use it when i travel and rent a car somewhere.

Radar Detectors should always be mounted as high as possible to minimize signal interference. This is especially important in a Corvette. Don't worry about rear Laser because if it is ever detected you are already toast.

I mount my Escort Solo just to the upper windshield on the driver side of the rear view mirror. I can still use my visor if needed.

Although I hardly ever use my Garmin GPS anymore, I have found putting it at the front of the console just below the heater controls worked just fine for me.

my 2 cents . . . .
