Does anybody have their tail lights blacked out? Seems like there are different ways to do it , but which is the best? Overlays, covers, tinting etc. Also I am wondering if all of them are legal here in Fl.
1) i live in the Fort Lauderdale area and have not had a problem with them for over 2 years
2) I have the hard plastic overlays and they were cheap -- about $80 bucks for all 7 lights. Some have them included for the 2 front turn signals too. Well worth it.
3) make sure you black out the bumper too!

Wen't with the acrylic blackouts. This way if I get pulled over its as simple as un-screwing 8 screws. They look a little cheap at times, but I didn't have the guts to have them professionally painted.

where did you get them? i used VHT nightshade on mine but they look like like they are dark red and now i want them to be darker,
and do i just screw them on top of my lights or what? and what about the third brake light?

I bought the 9 Piece kit from one of the supporting vendors. I believe it was Vetteshop. It comes with the four taillight covers that screw on using the existing screws, the 3rd brake light which uses 3m tape, the license plate blackouts (3M Tape) and the front corner blackouts that can be a royal PITA ! (But look the Best)
All in all I am happy with the kit, for under $80 it really transforms the look of the car. Like I said earlier, the best part is that if they need to be removed they can be.
i went with VHT Nightshades, two or three coats and i love them, can still see through them very well although hard to get off if you ever want or need to. plus it is only 8 bucks or something like that
I just did mine tonight with VHT. I think it looks great and they are pretty dark. You can't hardly see any red unless the lights come on. I was told that they aren't illegal in KS and I also checked the KHP website to make sure.
I have the screw on acrylic ones. I have not had a problem with their legality in the 2 years they've been on. I was pulled over once but the cop didn't say anything about them. However, you could get a ticket for them. Here's mine.
Like others here, I too went with the acrylic covers. Again, no legal problems with them in two years. I have the tail lights on my 05 F150 professionally tinted and they do look better when professionally tinted but you can't tell they are covers unless you are looking for that. Go with the covers... I paid $80 for 9 pieces when professionally tinted all 9 pieces would run over $300.
