So I'm a new owner . . . will celebrate my 1month ownership a couple of days from now.
I've not shown my Vette yet to the office as I'm finishing to replace the old and scratched corner lights. I want it to generate a grand first impression when I show it.
But I've talked with some colleagues and the quesion " Why did you choose Corvette " came up more than once.
I'm sure you guys have been asked this question also when you had your Vette and I want to get this thread started by posting the same question.
Makes sense for me to give my response. I chose Corvette because it's like owning an American icon. I can't own and bring home Mt. Rushmore or Washington Monument or Golden Gate Bridge or Statue of Liberty. But I can own America's sportscar that is the Corvette!
I learned to drive on my dad's Corvette. Even before he bought it, my dad and I always pointed out the Corvettes and always wanted one.
Eventually when he bought his, I became addicted. I had a few other cars before I bought my own Corvette. My first car was a total bucket, but then I went and bought a V8 Firebird and then a WS6 Trans Am. I got used to the power and moved up to a Z06.
I'm on my second Z06 at almost 27 years old. I refuse to have anything less than a Corvette now. I'm spoiled.
I'm on my 8th Vette and the answer is simple....there is no car in the world that handles like it and the Corvette drivers have a very special bond. Welcome to our world! Now start spending on mods but understand that once you start, you'll never stop
I wanted something that was American, V8, and 2 seats being as new as I could afford and somewhat economical for what you got, the Corvette was the only car avail.
I've been in love with Corvettes since I was a kid. My first ride in one was when I was 10. I knew then and there that I would own one someday. Bought my first when I was 19, a 1964 coupe. Then I was without one for nearly 30 years. After I got my third, and last daughter married off I bought my 94 coupe, and then I traded it for my 01 coupe. Once you driven or ridden in one, no other car will do.
Why did you choose corvette? Let's translate that? What in the hell possessed you to buy this impractical 2 seat mid-life crisis mobile?
I mean, would you go up to your coworker at a xmas party, look at his wife and say - "why did you choose her?" The mere question is negative and rude.
I bought a vette b/c it is what I wanted, you dumb azz mf. Of course you can't say that so plug in the pc response below: (this is still true, but pc nontheless)
It is an american icon/legend
pride in owning america's sports car, it's made in the USA
It handles great, has high hp/low end torque -grunt
great acceleration, handling, styling and just simply an experience to drive and or just gaze thru the windshield at the sculpted, sexy hood.
Or you could go non-pc:
Well, when I take John Q Co-worker to lunch, there's no room for you----you azz-hat, thank God for 2 seaters.......
In my case, this is not my dd. I have a G35 sedan as dd so I get some of the heat taken off of me for being a young father, 2 small kids and owning a corvette........

I've been a car nut/gearhead as far back as I can remember! My dad took me to the local Dirt track before I was old enough to stay awake through the nights program. Fast forward to late 60's and I got to drive a 66coupe,,,and the bug bit HARD!! Through the years I had a few muscle cars,,but NOTHING equaled that sensation/memory!! Got my BB shark about13 years ago,,fun,,but after a hot July trip,,the wife said she wanted A/C,,added the FRC!! To me Nothing I could buy matches the combination of the C5!! Dream come true for me!!
