Bought new tires & had an alignment done now my traction control is engaging at different speeds? fronts 265/40r-17 on 17x9, rears 295/30r-18 on 18x10.5. Falken tires from discount thought the rears were 295/35r-18's, but found out Falken does not make this size in fk 452's.

The C5 is designed to have the tires at a set difference, I can't remember what it is, Maybe 10% from the front to rear, I bet seeing you have 40s in the front and 30s in the rear that might just be it.
Oem for my car is 265/40/17 , 295/35-18 I thought this is what I ordered and installed at Discount. Really did not notice till I got home with the traction control engaging. Then checked onFalken website to find out they do not make a fk 452 295/35-18 tire.
Your front tires are bigger 25.4", than your rear tires 25.2" in diameter. According to Tirerack specs on those sizes of tires. It's supposed to be the other way around. That's why you're having TC issues.

What they are all telling you is that the back tire overall diameter must be about 1/2" greater in back than in front so that the rear wheels spin slower than the fronts. If the backs spin faster, the traction control system sees that as wheel spin and invokes traction control (retards timing).

It would look goofy buy you could swap the fronts and rears and see if the problem goes away. If so you need smaller diameter fronts or larger (taller) rears.
O.K. got the the whole size thing. Looked at falken website for tire diameters. What would you go with 245/35-17 - 295/30-18 combo making the rears 1.2 inch larger diameter. Or 265/40-17 - 285/35-18 .6 inch difference. My problem is I am not sure of Discounts policy on returning tires. If only fALKEN MADE THE 295/35/18 I would not have this problem.
thanks guys for the feed back

If it looks like you have to pay out of pocket I'd go whichever way was the least costly.
I have Kuhmos on Z06 wheels and run 275/40x17 and 295/35x18 which gives about the same .6" difference as your second choice.
I'd go with the 285/35x18 rears and leave the fronts as is.

problem solved switched to another brand tire. 265/40r-17 & 295/35r- 18's. Discount Tire traded out no questions ask, great company to deal with as I see it.
Glad to hear that you got it worked out. Funny that the tire dealer did not know about the TC issue and advice you prior that you would have an problems with the larger diameter tire up front. Just goes to show you that many of these places have no real idea of what they are doing. They probably said gee you mean an 18" wheel/tire combo is smaller than a 17".

Great, Discount Tire stepped up and took care of the customer. Way to go, if only all the companies could work like that.
