[Z06] cracked outside window trim??

cracked outside window trim??
I saw a thread about this awhile back,but I can't seem to find it again.2002 Z06,outside black trim,drivers side,seems to have a thin hairline crack,can anyone give me some info about this,and what caused it?THX

Don't really know what causes it but I have it on both sides of my 02. Almost every 02 and many 03s have this same problem. The replacement moulding costs $80 and you have to remove the door weatherstrip to get to the screws that hold it. If it is not replaced correctly you could have water leaks, and if you screw up the door weatherstrip it will cost big to replace it. I am leaving mine alone. Most people do not notice it and if they do they think it is made like that.

I have it and it was caused by going into a driveway slightly sideways to avoid scraping the front bumper. This approach does twist the chassis as I feel one wheel coming off the ground. Heard it go POP!!!
Poor car needed a little stress relief I guess.
