How can I check the year of a C5 a differential came out of. Is there a tag or number that gives this away.
Also what are the differences between lets say a 99 - 2000 to a 2003 differential.
I am going from a 2.73 to a 3.42. the 3.42 may be a very low mileage 99 model.
Should there be any issues in this swap?

I don't believe there is any way to tell the year.
The only issue you will have is that you will need to reprogram all the shoft points for your automatic transmission. You will need some kind of programmer to do this or take it to a tuner shop. Oh yeah - and the silly grin that will be stuck on your face.

Don't forget to swap over the seal plate from your 2.73 to the 3.42 carrier:
