New wheels / non-runflats - Sensor question!
Just installed my new wheels and tires (C6 replicas on my C5).
Shop said they couldn't use the existing sensors on my new wheels, so I'm guessing they went with no sensors at all?
At any rate, of course, I now have a "four flat tires" message from my display.
1) Can I simply disable this function?
2) Why would my C5 sensors not work with my C6 wheels?
3) If not, are my C5 sensors worth selling?
Not a fan of the TPMS, as I check my own TP weekly with a LongAcre gauge...
Thanks in advance for any advice!

The usual answer will be that the shop is wrong and that the sensors should have fit.
You can hit reset every time you start the car, or I believe it can be programmed out with the correct equipment.
The sensors are probably not worth much. How old are they?
I would want sensors when and if I change wheels.

I installed my sensors on my C6 wheels just fine, I have a 2002.
Works great.
You have a 2001 Vert, They should fit just fine.

I am a believer in the sensors, They can give you good warring in advance of tire failure.
Go back and have them install them.

They should have fit. You have a 2001 so you can have the sensors tuned as not installed. That can only be done on 2001 through 2004 cars. Earlier cars had no provision to tune them out. Need the proper tuning tool to accomplish that.

These are a must-have feature with non-runflats.

That's one tire shop I'd cross off my list for the future.

Good info - Thanks all!
I will go back and have them reinstall the sensors. I'll also find out what they meant by "they don't fit".
Just out of curiosity, what's the process for "tuning out" the TPMS function on an '01? Something the dealer has to do, or what?
Thanks again!

Might need a Tech II to do it.

You should keep the sensors since you don't want to get stuck with a flat and no spare. Any warning is a good warning. Regular 01-04 sensors fit my C6 Z06 replicas with no issues at all. Find a new shop.

Unless they marked the wheel locations on the sensors and you put them back in the proper wheels you may need to relearn them after install.

I would think that the sensors would fit the wheel - I agree with finding a different shop and having the sensors reinstalled.
