In November 09, I was trying to sell my PRISTINE 2001 Convertible for$25,000 and got nothing. I gradually reduced it to $22,000 still nothing! I finally got fed up and traded it for a 08 Coupe at a Dealer. It was like pulling teeth to get the Dealer to ante up $19,000 on the car! I bought it new and it was a beautiful car. It sold the very next day, the Dealer did not even wash it the salesman told me a guy walked in looked at it and said "I will take it"! He did not even drive it!
Now I have decided to either sell my 08 or trade it for a C5Convertible "I miss mine"! I am getting offers like I will trade even, a 02 or a 06 for my 08.
My message, is "get real folks" you are not going to get Retail just because the car looks good, most Vettes do look good and are in most cases taken care of. I am using KBB as a guide and comparing Apples to Apples, is that too hard to understand?
Now that I have got that off of my chest, I rest my case!
I've been searching for a C5 for 5-6 months. In the colder climate states buying and selling of Corvettes is cyclical. I had a couple great deals lined up in Feb only to be beat out $500 by dealers building inventory for spring. You took a bath on your C5 vert because it was November. If you want to make out, sell your C6 now and buy a C5 in the fall. Stay away from dealers.

I'm sure someone will trade you an '02 even up for an '08. Heck, I'd consider trading my '03 for a deal like that. Some people are nuts when it comes to thinking what their car is worth.
I'm wondering why you sold your pristine C5 convertible in the first place?
Because I am a dumb ***! The best part is that I sold the 01 in 2007 because it just sat in the garage gathering dust. My wife got mad at me and pressured me into buying another. She said that I have always had a Vette and my mood is different when I do not have one.
I complied and I bought a 2002 Z06 with 8,500 miles on it. I loved driving the car but it was black and it bugged me that I could not keep it clean. I decided to sell and buy a C6. While shopping the AD's, I saw a 04 Verte for sale at a local dealer. I went to look at it and decided that it did not look that good however sitting next to it was a beautiful 01 Torch Red Verte that looked like my old one. Turns out that it was my old one and I bought it back!! How is that for dumb!!
Well after a year or so, I decided that I wanted a C6 which I now have. I overbought, this car is too nice and too powerful for an old guy like me. Hence I decided to sell or trade. By the way, this is my 11th Vette so I have had this condition for a long time!
Did that 08' see any water damage from that flood in Nashville?
No. It did not even get wet! If you look at the pictures, it is sitting in the driveway and you can see Nashville in the background, 13 miles away and about 500 feet or more below me.

I have had more than a few offers that were not too good to pass up. One guy offered me $35,000 because he felt that that was a good offer. I quoted KBB as pricing it at $39,400 Private Party. He poo poo'ed it. I told Him "no way in Hell" would I sell at that price.
I used to work at a Dealer so I know that they have to make a profit to pay their salesmen and keep the doors open! Private sales are not in this category so different tools are available. I choose to use KBB to generally set the piices. If someone wants to do something else, don't bother me! There is a local Dealer with a 01 Convertible asking $29,900 just because the car has 9,500 miles or so on it! The parts are still 9 years old, and rubber does age!!
