Saw this street sign on Route 17 in South Carolina toady, so I went back and used it as a backdrop for a photo op:

Right next door to Camp Lejeune. What a coincidence.
Do a Google Earth for Semper Fi Dr, Awendaw, SC 29429 and you can go down to a "street view" of that exact spot. That "Dr" btw, seems to be barely improved and would likely NOT be Vette-friendly if you drove back into the woods on it. Seems to eventially dead-end after passing a couples houses set well back off the road back there deep in the woods.
Gotta love Google Earth.

I was on my way back home after promoting a friend of mine, with whom I had served in Iraq, to Colonel in the Air Force at The Citadel in Charleston. It turned into a mini-reunion of sorts, as a handful of others with whom we served in Iraq were there as well, traveling from as far as Texas and Illinois. Three years ago the USAF Colonel and I pinned a set of Marine Corps 2ndLt bars on his oldest son at that same place. I saw the sign as I passed it at 65 MPH and thought it was worth a stop and backtrack for the photo. Given that it was Memorial Day weekend and the purpose of the trip, it all made sense.
