I have a service column lock message on my 2001 vette which I bought used in 2006. How do I know if the recall of 2004 was serviced or not? I have no records with the car indicating that it was recalled. The repair shop that services it claims that GM does not even make the column lock assembly. Ifeel like I am getting ripped off!

First off is the car an automatic or manual trans?? If it's an auto your barking up the wrong tree. There is no recall for 2001 through 2004 auto trans cars. If it's a manual then read on.
You can send your VIN to Gene Culley gene@gmpartshouse.com and ask for the GM VIS for your VIN.
He will email it back. Look in the Claim History section of the report and you will find all the info you need to know whether the recall service was done.
