I recently purchased a 2002 Z06 and I am wondering if any of you have installed 373 gears in your rearend. I am currently running them on my vert 2001 6 speed and they are awesome in the car. Yes, I know the transmission is geard steeper also, but I just want some feedback from any of you that may have them installed in the Z06. Thanks
IMHO, if you're planning on keeping the car N/A...then it's one of the best mods for off the line performance. If you're going to supercharge, t-charge or use NOS...I wouldn't recommend this mod. Just my .02...

Why?
Enquiring minds want to know. Is it an issue with traction or what?
I had 4.10's in my 96 GS and was soooo much fun on the street. I was thinking that 3.73's in the Z06 might be a good compromise.
Since I've been reading posts on this forum, I have noticed the 3.73 gears are not a popular mod among the people here. I see people here tastefully mod their Z06 with longtubes, heads and cams, or just plain bolt-ons, and yet they overlook the gears. I think the 3.73's are a great complement for a M6.
I might assume is the price tag on the gears. I see LPE selling the Getrag Axle Assembly (3.73:1) for $2.3K
I have 3.73 gears on my Camaro, and they're great.
I would love to see more Z06's with 3.73's and hear comments about them.
:smash: :yesnod:
It's definitely an issue w/traction... I could not imagine having 500+ rwhp and keeping the 3.73 gear. 1st would be a joke!!! BTW, I purchased my 3.73 for $2k delivered from LAPD(if anyone's interested)...sold my 3.42 for approx $600 so it was only a $1400 net mod and WELL WORTH IT 10X OVER!!!
Well, I just think the 3.73 gears are a great street killer weapon.
I do agree with the issue of having them in car producing a lot of power/torque. But, with bolt-ons and/or head/cams package -hence, no 500+ rwhp- I think they will shine. :smash:
Buzz,
I cannot see how you could keep tires on a stock Z6 with 3.73's, hard enough to launch with 3.42's......how on earth do you get to use 1st gear???.
Z06LS6...it's not bad at all(I do need some Nittos though) at the track. I really like how it makes 5th a better passing gear and 6th a more functional gear.
