Default overheating?

i searched around but did not find anything down my road of question. First off what coolant temp is considered overheating? Second it seems when i turn on the ac and the fans kick in the coolant temp declines to around 190 or so. Generally if i keep the AC off even heat, the temps climb to 200-217...and they dont seem to really go down after that unless im crusing on the highway at like 60 then they will stay around 190ish. But in town driving where im going 10-40mph they seem to rise to around 200-210...I am wondering if my fan relay fuses are shot? how can you tell? Help is much appreciated. Thanks

Thats normal...Mine used to be between 220-230 at idle, 210-225 in the city, and 190-195 on the highway..

You can also get a tune to knock the temps down.

All your temps are normal. These cars can go as high as 230 and it's still not considered overheating. You might not like seeing the gage that high, but it's still not a problem until you start getting near 240. They are designed to run hotter than you're used to. I have a 160 stat with reprogrammed fans due to the tune I have. Lowering the stat temp does not prevent running hot, it just might take a little longer to get there, but if you are in a high temp situation such as heavy traffic on a particularly hot day the car will still run hotter than you like. BTW, since these cars are bottom feeders alot of crappola gets sucked up into the radiator which makes them run hotter. Be sure to clean out the rad and condensor at least once a year.

Car is fine. Mine would see 230-240 in 100+ heat with the humidity in Houston in severe traffic on hot asphalt. Clean out the radiator if you have a lot of junk build up, and it will lower your temps a few degrees.

Take the garden hose with a nozzle and wash out the A/C condenser. I'm sure it's full of dirt and crap. It does make a difference.
