This one is tricky...My underhood light contacts show 12v with a multi-tester, but it will not fire the lamp. Yes, the hood is fully opened and yes, I know the lamp works because it lights up fine when wired directly to the battery. I even went to the auto parts store and bought a new pack of two. All three lamps refuse to light. I'm going crazy trying to figure this one out! Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance. - Cool Arrow in Houston

Check for a good ground... you appear to have the power to it, but need a ground to return it.. also see if bulb is burned out (but doesn't looke like it is..)...Not sure run a wire free hand to the negative side of the light and see if it turns on. Good luck.
Well, somewhat solved...I still don't understand why my previous light did not work as it showed 12v to the bulb contacts. That said, I found a used lamp receptacle with wiring lead here in town (Houston) for $10. I'm a firm believer in trying the easy route first. This means just peeling back the hood insulation and replacing the harness from the existing lamp to the connection below at the frame. Shazaam! It fired right up and worked beautifully! The old wiring harness went straight to the trash can before I can forget that it does not want to behave!
