Anyone have the instructions or procedure for installing a double din set-up? I know some brackets need to be cut but don't want to cut the wrong ones. If someone could post it up I'd appreciate it so I don't have to continue to hassle Dennis I've searched and didn't find anything. DOuble Din modified by Dennis, no ashtray FWIW
If you run an advanced search on "double din install" and select the audio/electronics section under the General Corvette forum you will run across several threads of different installs. For my AVIC Z2 install I drilled the rivets out on the top bracket (the bracket the stock radio sits on top of) and turned it upside down and bolted it in. You will see several ways of doing this though on the different installs.
Jon, I did mine a few months ago. There is nowhere on this site that has dimensions on the NEW brackets you need to mount your new stereo. I do have an AutoCAD drawing that I did but it's at work. I sent the drawing to a metal shop and had them create a couple of "L" brackets similar to "Patches" but I used four mounting screws on each side of the stereo. I had them make a couple of extra (encase I really messed them up), if I can find them I'll send them to yea. Although mine are for a Kenwood stereo. Also, the brackets are not exact as I had to modify them slightly when I was finalizing the install. It just takes time and LOTS OF PATIENCE...putting the bracket on the stereo, installing stereo, installing console, removing console, adjusting....and then do it all over again.....
Jon
call me in the morning and I will help you out
Sorry I had 4 car sin last two days for dd installs that had to get done for as they wanted them for the Hot Rod Power Tour that starts tomorrow.
I assume you have read the sticky in the audio section. If not doing so will increase your knowledge immensley. Making the brackets is not that tough. I used 1/16" thick by 2 " wide aluminum to fabricate my own. You have to remove the stock bracket that held the stock radio in place. Read the sticky first. R/ Al

I just checked the audio section. What is the title of the sticky that has this walk through.
