You can clay a Z in 30 min. Then you need to polish it too.
I tried to Zaino my Z last weekend w/o clay because it was freshly detailed...oh, hell no. All I did was smear "something" around. I couldn't buff it clean to save my life. It felt very smooth, so I went ahead and tried polishing it with Z-2 Zaino. Apparently it had some type of wax on it. So, this week I washed it with Dawn(that removes all waxes and polishes), clayed it, rinsed it dried it, and went to the Z-2. Great results!!! Don't try polishing anything without the claybar first, you can do multiple layers of polish as long as it's been clayed to get it clean.

I bought Mother's claybar recently, although I haven't had a chance to use it yet.
I have used carnuba cleaner wax prior to regular wax in the past with great results, is clay even better?

Much better, and easier to use. Of course I don't wax either. Not with the Zaino system.

Don't use Dawn, use the Zaino carwash. Mine never crumbled. I used Dawn to strip the old wax off.

I think you can use just about any quick detailer as a lube for the clay bar. Not water by itself or with dish soap.

I just buy the Mothers kit that comes with a quick detailer and 2 bars of clay.
It's also recommended by some folks to clean the car again after you clay in order to wash off any clay that could still be on the finish.

Love the feel of a freshly waxed car after using the claybar.

I agree! Smooth as silk...
I clayed my Z a few weeks ago and was finally able to get off all those tiny black bits (rubber, dirt) that you can't get off with a regular wash job. It took me a few hours but it was WELL worth it!
