Default Some noob questions!

Hey yall well im hopefully selling the stang and gonna be getting into a vette... well i have some questions for yall, i searched and found some but not all. Any help would be great... here they are (probably gonne be getting a 98,99,2000 if it matters)
1. Do all coupes have the "targa top"?
2. Where does the targa top go when its off?
3. From the factory is the targe top see through like t-tops or is it painted to match your car?
4. Is it true that corvette insurance is usually cheaper than mustangs/trans ams/ camaros etc?
5. Is 100k miles high for the ls1?
6. Also what are some good/affordable performance mods (non s/c nitrous) the car im looking at already has magnaflow o/r mid pipe, catback, k&n intake, bbk throttle body, short shifter, what else usually goes good with those besides headers, im thinking tune and maybe ls6 intake???
7. Are the performance parts for the c5 engine (head/cam/intake/tuners etc) the same parts for the ls1 trans am/camaros?
8. And for wheel fitment are the c5 and trans am/camaros all the same?
Thanks answering any or all of the questions will help
BTW here is the link of the car i wanna buy... http://detroit.craigslist.org/wyn/cto/1772704155.html

Yes, all coupes have the targa (that of course excludes the fixed roof coupe or FRC/Z06).

The targa is stored in the rear hatch area. There are two retractable pins that attach to the top as well as two stationary holders that attach to the floor of the hatch area in which the targa rests.

The stock top is a body color painted top - the see through top is an option. Some cars came with both tops as an option as well.

From what I have found, the insurance on a C5 is very reasonable and in most cases much cheaper than that for a Camaro/Firebird/Mustang. Of course, only your insurance agent can tell you for sure what insurance would be for you.

Many forum members have many more miles than 100K on their cars and report that they have had few problems. As with any car, how the vehicle was maintained will be a big factor in how reliable it is.

A set of long tube headers will really wake up the car, as will a heads/cam job. New rear gears can help a lot, depending on what gears the car already has. The automatic can have either 2.73 or 3.15 gears from the factory while the six speed has the 3.42s.

Doubt you can fit an LS7 intake on the car, but an LS6 will work.

Good luck with your purchase. I have some Word files, including a Corvette Buyers Checklist, that might help you out. If you'd like a copy, PM me your e-mail address.

1. No, there is the Fixed Roof Coupe (FRC) which in '01 became the Z06. Neither of those models have a removable roof panel.

2. In the hatch back area. There are mounts to secure it.

3. It is an option, they come with a solid painted roof panel and the transparent roof panel is optional. Normally the vehicle will have both tops when sold.

4. I believe insurance rates are based more on the driver specifics and their credit rating, than the vehicle.

5. Some say it is, some say it is not. Here's the issue once you get to a certain point in time/mileage, then it becomes a gamble as to what will require servicing. Typically, these engines should easily see 150,000 miles of service if taken care of and had proper routine maintenance.

6. I'm not an expert on mods, with exception of the Z06 C6 shifter, that I have and it is significantly better then the stock C5 shifter. I don't think many of them actually produce more horsepower, an aftermarket exhaust sounds a lot nicer then the stock exhaust.

At '01, all LS1 have a LS6 (Z06 engine) intake manifold.

Good luck on your purchase.

LOL Dang Jack we had almost identical answers and must have been writing at the same time.

7. Heads/cam the same. Intake is different, no fitting for the MAP sensor on the F body. Tuners are also different. F bodies have a cable throttle.

8. Offsets are different.
