This past weekend I had it in the garage because I have had some AC issues, so I popped the hood, started her up and turn the AC on, basically I wanted to see if the compressor was cycling on and off. Before I got out to look, all of a sudden heard a loud burst, sounded like a wastegate on a turbo. Something shot horizontally towards the rear from the passenger side of engine, it was strong, shot sand and hit the garage door behind the car. Well I looked underneath and noticed a yellowish green oil dripping off the passenger side catalytic converter and off part of the floor pan right next to the CC. Looking down from under the hood, there was nothing to be seen, no leak, no fluid. Little later i started again, ran AC it worked no blasts, and checked the pressure and it was still up. I know its not the lines that run to the heater core because the coolant is red, and there is nothing else on the passenger side of the motor that could leak.
Any ideas? I am planning on getting it on the lift this weekend to take a look from underneath.
The compressor is on the passenger side of the engine, so its highly suspect as you know already. I would be thinking that you lost a seal on the compressor itself but to hear that its still working is strange. Best advice is to take it to a competent HVAC shop and hook it up and see what's going on.
