Crazy question....
Has anyone tried to open up their bumper lights or tail lights by placing them in the oven? I know a lot of motorcycle owners have done it to install halos (angel eyes), just wondering if anyone in the vette world has done it.

It's not that I can't afford to go out and buy modified lights, I just had some spare LED strips and other stuff lying around so I thought I would make this a little project. I like tinkering, and doing this sort of thing. It gives a sense of accomplishment when completed. Anyhow...I think I might have a line on some lights I can play with. If it works, great...if not then I'll be eating "tail light caccatore" for dinner!
I know a couple of guys who have made 'Audi-style' headlights by baking the lights to get them open and installing the LED strips. But these are guys who do custom body/electrical work for a living. I probably wouldn't recommend doing this unless you are willing to lose a set of lights.

worst case scenario is you need a new light. I'll send you a dollar for a write up good luck
I pretty certain the adhesive used in our lights are not the heat activated polyurathane type of Glue... I've opened up my son's 3000GT's headlights and also the Halo taillights with the oven/heat gun trick, no problem.
But the glue on the OEM light housings looks like a brittle Superglue type of adhesive. You might want to consider dremeling them open???

I checked online and found a write up about a guy who placed his R1 head lights in the oven at 300C for 5 mintues. I tried with a spare tail light and it didn't work...not even close. I continued to search and found a vid that shows a guy placing his Kawi Ninja light in the oven at 250C for 15 minutes...again this still wasn't enough time. He then put it back in for another 10 minutes before attempting to pry them apart. He got it done but he still had to use some force. I'll have to try again later this week.
I don't care so much if I ruin my spare light, but I want to get it right when I attempt to install an LED strip insinde my new corner lights, a la JWmotoring. I can say that what he charges is a fair price for having them already made. The only reason I didn't buy from him was that I had some spare LED's and other light goodies from other projects lying around so I thought I would give it a go.
P.S.
Thanks for the 2 bucks...now I can buy a can of coke and have a chocolate bar while I wait for the oven to roast my lights
