had a friend warn me one time to use only washer fluid that was blue, as the others have features which can be damaging to the paint.
any truth to that? I've used the orange rainx version for a while. the orange stuff does stay around for a while and makes a mess, but it washes right off. if you have to use washer fluid to begin with the car's messy.
One of the reasons I stopped using RainX was that I read somewhere that the way it gets the water to slip off is by some type of acid component in it that (for lack of the correct term) corrodes an infinitesimaly small layer of the surface thus changing the ability of the water to stick, had something to do with surface tension. So if any of that is true, what you're saying might make sense. Should be easily Googleable <== new word, just made it up
I was thinking the same thing this weekend. I needed some more but all the auto parts store had was washer fluid with bug remover or something like that. I waited and picked it up at the gas station. I was concerned since the fluid really never gets used so I didn't want something with a bunch of additives that could break down over time.
You can use whichever color you choose for washer fluid. Although, I've heard that blue gets better performance. It's blinker fluid that needs to be yellow.
at one time i made the blue washer fluid which is 38% methanol and the rest is water and blue dye. The other types use ethylene glycol
also which is ANTI- FREEZE along with methanol, so dont get it on your paint.

WTH ! I had no idea, I just assumed it was Windex (maybe a little amonia). Hmm...methanol huh?
Oh well, the only washer fluid mine see's is that which finds its way up the tube and out the outlet due to inertial forces generated during "smile inducing" acceleration
The only reason I know the wipers work at all is when I hit them by accident when cleaning the interior (Come to think of it, they get checked every year at State Inspection, thats good enough for me).
mine is my daily, so i have no other choice but to need washer fluid. i prefer the orange rain-x. it does not remove the rain-x from my windsheild. i have noticed that any other brand removes the rain-x layer that i spend 15 minutes buffing onto my windsheild.

ooooooooooooooooooooo i dont have any blinker fluid
From my experience, they are all safe if designed for vehicles. As for RainX, it is like alcohol and I used it in the past but have stopped now. Why, it chewed up my wiper blades faster, in fact the blades would transfer black rubber to the windshield were they stop and go back, it is hard to remove that stuff. I now just WAX my window and get the same affect as RainX, but wax wears out in the environment.. So try that...
I don't think mine has a washer fluid reservoir. In fact, I think mine came without wipers. I have never seen them. Also, where does the blinker fluid go? I can't find that either.

Have never used anything but the blue washer fluid in mine so never bothered to look at anything else to see what was in there. Will have to look next time I need to buy some.
