i'am thinking of painting my calipers red..at the moment they are the stock grey color..anyone have pics of theres painted? i want to paint it red and keep the corvette lettering white
I can't post a pic but I could email you one. I took mine off and painted them red then took a sanding block and sanded the red off the letters. I think it looks good.
I just did mine black. I got a kit with the hardener type paint that you mix together. It is good stuff and there is enough to do a lot of painting. Two coats or more, but it does start to thicken. Because of the hardener, you will need to paint all of your calipers/coats in a short time. They want 24 hours drying time before you use the car again. Minimum two before putting wheels back on. Have some lights available so you can see what your doing. I have some halogens, this got hot quick.
For me this was a lot of work for so little gain, but still fun in the long run. I did have to laugh at myself a few times for doing this.
I did front and rears so the car is up and all four wheels off. Forget about trying to paint between the letters. Paint all over them. Make sure you don't paint any rubber parts. Let dry over night at least. Get some fine sandpaper/emery cloth and a flat block that you can handle easy. I used an old cassette case with emery cloth to sand the paint off the letters, exposing the metal. I used the small edge. This is the real fun, as you want to make sure you don't hit areas that you want to keep the paint on. By this time your paint mix has dried. No do overs. No way would I go back to paint the letters white or any color.
While your there you may as well clean the wheel wells and suspension parts that you want cleaned. I used a black sealer (turtle wax black chrome) on inner wheel wells that stays very dark makes it easy to clean off with just a hose. And you may as well polish up those wheels while your letting the paint dry.
