Okay so all I tried to do was replace the underhood light with an LED I bought - that turned out to not fit properly. Now the hood light won't work. Any ideas - bulb is good, there is power in the socket since the LED lit up - just not brightly when I held it in place.
Any chance you blew a fuse when you tried to install the incorrect LED bulb? Check your owners manual to define which fuse is connected to the under-hood light and check it. Replace if blown. If that isn't the problem, get some electrical contact cleaner and some dialectic grease. Clean the contacts on the light socket with the contact cleaner, then put a small amount of the grease on the terminals of the bulb and insert. Good luck, Ron
Thanks, I will check the fuses again.....but, like I said the LED bulb lights up so there is power to the socket. Maybe it just needs to rest overnight!....I've had that happen before too in the 12 years I've owned this car! Let it sit, try it again and it works.
Anyone know where there is a fuse block diagram for the C5 ... I have searched and searched the forum and can't find one. Just a list of the fuses for the main lights would be helpful. Thx!

Download a copy of the owners manual for your model year car - you can do so at www.gmpartshouse.com. There is a fuse box listing in there.

Okay, did that - of course there isn't a single fuse listing for the "Hood Light". I did find a post on another forum that suggested it was Fuse #2 in the interior fuse block - this one is for "monitored (inadvertant) load control". Does that sound correct to any of you guys that actually understands these electrical systems?

Well, the other Forum was correct! It was the #2 fuse - all's well that ends well as they say!
