Default Need Help....

I am getting ready to change my pads on my C5 and I found I don't have the correct tools, What size sockets do I need to remove my calipers front and rear?
Any help would be great.
Thanks in advance.

Bill, I'm going from memory here but I believe you need a 15mm wrench (socket will work) and an 18mm wrench (open ended). I've also read that a 5/8" open-ended wrench would work in place of the 18mm one, but I've always had good luck with the 15mm and 18mm setup. I've seen them both mentioned in different places, so take that for what its worth!

You will use the 18mm wrench to hold the caliper pin assembly in place while the 15mm wrench turns the bolt at the end (back side of the caliper).

Here's some pictures showing this, courtesy of Cajundude: (note that his guide states 5/8" wrench vs. 18mm)

15mm and 5/8" is right ...the 18mm is only needed if you are removing the caliper bracket (to change rotors). You'll also need a large c-clamp to push the pistons back in to make room for the new pads. Be sure to watch for overflow at the brake master cylinder when pushing the pistons back in. (will need two clamps on the fronts - one for each piston)

Thanks for the help guys, Front are done, I had to use a 15mm and 11/16th I think it was, The 5/8 was too small for my 2002 for some reason.
Thanks again, On to the rears.

OK, Rears are done, It was a breeze, You don't have to remove both caliper bolts, The calipers will swing out so you can remove and install the new pads, Also the rear were 15mm and 5/8th, The front are 15mm and 11/16th
Thanks again everyone.

Did you remove the rear rotors and adjust the E-brake?
