Default Mildew smell in car when first started

When I first start my vette up after sitting in the garage for a couple of days the air condition blows out a mildew smell. Is there a filter that needs to be cleaned or something?

There is no filter. Most likely there is mildew/mold in the ducts, this can result from condensation. Spraying a disenfectant like Lysol into the vents sometimes cures the problem. I believe I read on here somewhere that there is a spray made specifically for curing your problem, dealers or automotive shops may carry it.

Running the heat full blast for half an hour or so will dry the evaporator and ducts out ,and kill the mildew/mold thats living in there.
I run the heat occasionally(even if it's not cold outside) for that very reason, and since I've been doing that, odor hasn't been a problem.

Another "Gem of Knowledge" that I picked up here on the Forum....

Best thing you can do to avoid this is to turn the A/C off and the fan on high for a couple minutes before you stop the car. This should get rid of any moisture in the vent system.

Ditto, same here, but only during certain times of the year does this happen. One way to stop it is, on your way home from a ride in the hot weather, about 4 blocks, turn off the AC and just let the blower run on high to dry out the vents. I get that smell from the vents if I leave my AC on and then just shut off the motor. But after doing the above, I have eliminated the mildew smell.. I also did the lysol spray, but it came back, my way stopped it pretty much. Good luck.
