I'm about to change the fluid in the tranny and don't want the old stuff going all over the place when draining it as I've heard happens. Has anyone tried to crack the fill plug to release the pressure first before draining the old? Need input before I try it..Thanks

It's a good idea to loosen the fill plug first anyway,to make sure it's going to come out,and isn't stripped or frozen in place.
(you don't want to drain it and then not be able to fill it)

For a Manual trans, use a pan to catch the fluid

For an Auto, use a bigger pan to catch the fluid

not much more to it than that...

Hi There,
The spill factor comes in at the time you service the tranny.Amsoil has a nice hand pump for about $12.00.There p/n g-2039 only fits on there bottles. fits 1qt., 1gal., 2 1/2 gal. Don,t waste your money on buying the screw onto the top of the bottle type. You,ll have more fluid on the floor then going into the tranny.Requires you to buy 4qts.Its full when it starts to run out of the fill whole.(6spd) Do a google search to find a local amsoil dealer. If you use amsoil. Use the severe gear sae 75w-90 sythetic extreme pressure lub.
