Security alarm going off unexpectedly-Help
Twice now (once in the middle of the night), the security alarm on our 99 coupe has gone off for no apparent reason (although there must be a reason???). The first time my son went out and turned it off. This morning at work it went off but then stopped after about 10 minutes.
Any suggestions on what's causing this and what to do about it?
Hate to take it to a dealership if I don't have to.

This is the first time I've heard of this assuming someone isn't touching the panic button on a remote. I think I would first check on the state of the battery insuring its at least 12.5vdc when the ignition is off. Pull your codes just in case. I think I would be checking the door switches for proper operation with the lights in case one is electrically opening up with temperature changes. Another item of thought here would be the ignition switch itself although I'm not sure...just considering all thoughts here.
