stay away from carbotech. while they stop pretty decent, the CONSTANTLY squeal and make so much brake dust you'll wonder how there is even any pad left after driving for 5 minutes. i switched to Wagner Thermoquiets and i get no noise, no dust whatsoever, and stop the exact same.

Please tell me what compound you where using? This is absurd and false. You must have done somthing wrong. We sell thousands of pads and corvette is our biggest seller!
For street use this pad is low dusting and will give you better modulation than stock and stop better.
The Carbotech Bobcat 1521™ is our high performance street compound that is our most successful compound. The Bobcat compound is known for its awesome release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. Like our AX™ & XP™ line of compounds, Bobcat 1521™ is a Ceramic based friction material offering minimal rotor damage and non corrosive dust. Bobcat 1521™ offers outstanding performance, even when cold, low dusting and low noise with an excellent initial bite. This compound’s virtually perfect linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Bobcat 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 900°F. Bobcat 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle, police cruiser, and has won multiple SCCA Solo 2 and Prosolo National Championships. The Bobcat 1521™ compound has been found to last two-three times longer than OE pads you can purchase at a dealership or national retailer. Bobcat 1521™ compound has also been found to extend the life of your rotors 2-3 times. That’s one of the beauties of Carbotech Ceramic brake compounds. Bobcat 1521™ is NOT recommended for any track use.

i'll let you know which exact pads they were when i get home. they were on the car when i bought it(have the box for them though), so i can't say it wasn't an installer error since i didn't do it myself. not saying you have a bad product, but even an install error wouldn't explain away the insane dusting that these pads did...
btw i'm not sure how strict things are here, but i would like to make it known that i was not bashing a vendor here, simply just stating my issues i had with the carbotech pads. obviously not everyone has the same issues as mine did seeing how big of a company they are. just giving my input to the op, that's all.

If you are a track junkie I would go with something else, however as a dailey driver on the streets the GM ceramics are a very good pad.. No squealing, no brake dust or very little dust at all.. I cant stand squealing brakes or brake dust on my chrome wheels.. I'm rarely at the race track so this was best pad at the best price for me and my needs
I got 36000mi out of my stock pads. Im thinking about Ceramics, are there any pads that I want to stay away from
Saying "ceramic pads" is like saying "car". There are so many differences among the various options out there. The only thing that separates a regular semi-metallic pad and a ceramic pad is at least 7% ceramic content, which is most often beach sand!
With most "ceramic" pads, you must be willing to give up brake torque, which means a higher pedal effort for the same stopping power. Based on testing I've done, the Hawk Performance Ceramic pad give up about the least. Some give up way too much for my liking, but these aren't too bad. I've also never seen a ceramic-labeled pad that could stand up to serious abuse, but I'm still looking.
I run the Carbotech Bobcats and think they are awesome for street use. I have never had a complaint with them and I don't drive slow. Way less squeal and dust than stock too.

FYI...those are a track compound which is not recommended for the street. Most likley the basis for your complaint.

I have Carbotech Bobcats and they are quiet, stop at least as good as the stock Z06 pads, and dust less than GM ceramics. Are you running track pads on the street?

sounds logical to me
