Default This is weird.. Electrical issue

So I installed an AMP, it all works good. So I don't think this isnthe problem.

The other day I go out and car is dead, I mean NO power at all. I jump it, drive it, all is good. Next day, dead again.

I bought a battery charger, just hooked it up. Car comes to life. When I unlock the car from key fob, I get a buzzing sound from fuse box. WTF?

Also when I lock the car all interior lights stay on... Unless I open the vert cover, and close it, then lights go off. But if I unlock, and relock, interior lights stay on. Also vert cover not popping when button pressed.

I'm certain the lights on drained the battery in first place because the AMP power light is not currently on.

The battery is only 20m into charging, can that be causing this?? Am I just too quick to play with the car?

Measure the battery voltage with a voltmeter prior to additional testing. It should read 12-14 volts DC. How did you install the amp? Did you run a separate cable and dedicated fuse just for the amp? Also, check the ground cable to the amp and verify it is secure in both places.

The center light (on the rear view mirror) does stay on in some situations after you lock it up, its on a timer and should shut off by itself.

The buzzing is normal if your battery is drawn down. The other stuff about it not opening the vert when you hit the button may also be related to the battery being drawn down.

Is it possible you drew it down during the amp install?

At any rate, gotta address that before you go further. You didnt mention what type of battery you have in there, and at the risk of starting another "battery" thread which invariably goes to several pages I would just offer that if it is a red top, and you drew it down during the install, it may be hard to recharge.

The AGM red tops dont tolerate discharge and recharge as well as a conventional battery. It can be done, but it has to be done a specific way (which I dont have details for atm....something to do with putting two batteries in series..a good one and your discharged one...try a search for that). But I can tell you that if you just hook it up to a battery charger and charge it, it may be the case that when done it reads like 12.5 volts (like its charged up) but when you go to use it it doesnt last, the charge drops very quickly.

When you are checking the battery, dont go by what it says on the DIC with the car running, thats what the charging system is maintaining at. You really cant even go with whatever that says when you turn the key to the first position and dont start it, there are other things that effect the reading you get there. You should check across the terminals at the battery, or take it out and bring it to an autoparts store and have it tested.

Either way, you gotta get the battery up to snuff and reinstalled and then see what happens when you start it and then shut it down.

Good luck
