This is a common problem with the C5, use the techron as stated above and it will help some but doubt it will totally resolve the issue. I have been adding it to mine about every other tank and it has helped a lot, don't see it quite as much as I did.

It is a common issue with the C5, What happens is the sensors in the tanks get a sulfur build-up on them and they quit working, I only use Chevron fuel because it had tecrhon in it. If yours isn't too far gone you can try what JRose said to do, And if the Techron corrects it stick with good gas like Chevron or Texaco.

If you use Chevron or Texaco it has Techron in it.
Common problem. Use premium fuel and add a few cans of fuel system cleaner to the gas tank the next few fill-ups. The guys here on the forum will have a number of recommendations as to brand. I use Techron, but others have used different products with good success. Issue will likely clear up after 2-4 tanks. If not, you have a bigger problem with fuel sending unit ect.

Sulfur deposits on the fuel sending units can cause erratic gauge behavior. Adding Techron to the gas can help remove the deposits and hopefully get the gauge working correctly again.
