Default Tpm pressure reading problem

I have a 02 m6 coupe and the left front sensor was reading the correct pressure up until last week. All of a sudden while I was driving it displayed low left front tire pressure then withing 2 min it read 4 psi but the tire still had 35 psi in it.
The sensor now reads about 16 psi when i get in the car and then goes down to 0 slowly.
I have reprogrammed all four sensors successfully it not that the sensors were on the wrong tires.

Any help will be very much appreciated.

If it is an original sensor (8 years old) it may be broken or in need of a battery change.

'01-'04 sensors are cheap enough to not require changing the batteries.

To the OP, pull your codes. Sounds like the sensor is about to go.

So it looks like im going to need to replace all four sensors kinda soon?
Cause I just bought the car and it has four brand new tires on it, so thats going to suck.
And where is the best place to get new sensors?

Have you pulled your codes? They don't need to dismount your tires to replace the sensors, just break the bead. I wouldn't replace any sensors until they die. No use tossing working sensors. No money to be saved doing it all at once.

Its not showing any present codes all the ones in there are past ones that have already been taken care of according to the shop manual. I checked with an external scanner and the one in the car itself. None popped up on the external one at all.
And the left front is not working at all being that it can sit for a day and when I get in it it will read 16 psi when there is 35 psi according to two different hand held gauges. So I would assume that the sensor has gone bad or the receiver but i would think that if the receiver had gone bad then all four would be off.
Also I was not planning on replacing all four right now cause the other three work fine.

There may be no savings but I'd rather do all 4 and not have to go to a tire shop 4 times. My time and the aggravation of a tire shop putting my car on a lift 4 times. I'd borrow or use jack stands and take the tires to the shop and have all of them done and be done with it. Or if you haven't had a 4wheel alignment yet it's a great time to do the sensors and alignment.

If you need to get new sensors, best price will be from Gene at gmpartshouse.com.

Ok that is what I understood from the shop manual but I just wanted to make sure
And a 97 tpm wont work with an 02 will it, because if they did I could always pull a wheel off my dads vette and see if it reads correct.
But it sounds like I am just going to have to take it to the shop to get a new sensor put in.

I could not find them

You did check all 4 tires for proper inflation, just to be sure that it's not reading the wrong tire after the reprogramming.

Would I even need the nuts if I were to take them off the existing sensors.
and is there any way to tell what year the sensors just by looking at them cause my dad bought some for his vette and his is a 97 so if they were incorrect I may just be able to use those.

I would think that they have a part#, also what did your Dad pay for each sensor. Gen I (97 to 2000) cost $90.'s each and GenII (01 to 04)$40.'s each.

He got them second hand so I think it was about 140-150 for all four.
