Default Losing oil

I've had my 01 Z for about 2 years And it uses oil, not alot but enough that I may add a quart every 4 or 5 months. It doesn't smoke and runs great. I've heard those ls motor have high crank case pressures so I'm guessing that may be part of it! Any ideas????

It is a known issue that some C5s go through oil, It was a ring issue in the motor, It is mostly when the car is driven hard.

Completely normal for that year, just bring a quart along on trips, especially if you like to rev occasionally.

must be some bad BP gas causing this leaking oil issue

Funny.

When I first got my 2000 I had the "Low Oil" message twice between the first and second oil changes. Three oil changes later, never happened again. I drive her harder that way back then because I know how. Go Figure.

The '01 manual tranny cars were known to have a problem with the rings - problem was fixed for the '02 model year. I had this problem with my '00 also - was using a quart of oil every 1200 miles. Dealer replaced the #2 rings under warranty.

I had a buddy that bought one new and had the same problem. Finally complained enough and GM replaced the engine at 12,xxx miles.

A quart over 4 or 5 months is not an issue. The issue w/ some 01's (Z06's I think) was "ring flutter" in high RPM, low load situations.

In other words, people who drive around at 60mph in second gear to sound cool.
