Garmin 2610 installed where the ashtray used to be. Hockey puck antenna on top of the steering column. Works great and gets a little more shade on the display in bright light.
This is mine before I installed a DD Bezel, the mount clips into the bezel. I don't remember the name of the mfg. but you should find it with a google search..............

I mounted my Garmin 760 same as HMannini... with one change and that is I clipped it next to the radio instead of the HVAC so it's slightly higher and away from the knees of folks getting into the car.
Works well from there. i ran the power cable under the dash and into the power outlet in the console door. No issues.
Clip is from pro-clips. there is two parts you have to get. The clip part and the GPS mount piece screws into the mount. The clip comes off in about 2 seconds and I don't see anywhere that it leaves a mark on the bezel surrounding the radio or HVAC unit.
Made it out of a block of balsa wood shaped to fit in the ashtray. The suction cup on the windshield mount is attached to a circle of G-10 circuit board material. Works great. Here are some pics.
Since I have an Android phone (Mytouch) I use Google's free navigation. I bought a non slip gel skin case for it and it goes up in the cluster area. Non slip, will take some VERY spirted driving, and stay's put.
I also have a Garmin Nuvi mount along side my radio with a Pro Clip. I use this method on my other vehicles also. It is neat and keeps the GPS out of the way and is easy to see while driving.
This photo shows both the original Garmin 885T that I had mounted on a spring loaded vent mount and the new single din Garmin/Kenwood 7" screen that I now use instead.
The vent mount worked fine but I was looking for a more permanent GPS that was always with me and ready to go and easily put away with the touch of a button.
The photo shows both units operating so you can see the comparison.
