so , i washed 2000 today for first time this year . the driver side head light has had front edge up about 3/8 of an inch and i don't know how it got in that position . after washing i thought i'd turn on lights and see if it would line up properly , probably only second time lights have been on since we bought car 4 years ago. after turning lights off the light flipped up and down about six times and stayed wide open . is this an expensive fix , is it something i might try to fix , and is other side going to eventually do the same thing . HELP!!!!!!! .....thanks........peace......by the way, i assume nothing is drawing on battery in this mode , yes/no ?
Never heard of that. The usual headlight problem is a grinding sound or the head light will just not go up and down. The gears are made of plastic and will fail at some point. I have rebuilt both motors with brass gears from Rodney Dickman.
I had something like that happen to me. I had to change a headlight bulb and one of the lead wires was catching just enough to not allow it to close all the. way. I hear the gears go out sometimes. Take a screw driver and remove the black plastic surrounding cover ( 3 screws) and look behind the headlight with the hood up and see if you can see anything. Use. the outherside as a guide.
called and described problem garage says it needs new gear . since it goes up and down [excessively] i would think gear isn't bad . i think there is a stop that needs to be adjusted . thoughts ,PLEASE, as i'm to be there at 8 o'clock tuesday [tomorrow] .

That makes no sense at all. If the gear is bad, how is the motor rotating the assembly up and down? When the gear goes, several of the teeth are worn, keeping the motor from turning the assembly. I have no idea what would make them cycle up and down. If I had to guess, I would say it has to be something electrical.
i'm back . the piece that is supposed to contact the two stops was loose and they shimmed it with a washer as they have on other c5's . said they also turned two stops over making a new surface for piece to contact . no parts , just two hours labor at $75 an hour . hope this helps someone in future if they have similar problem .
