Had Maryland Speed cut outs installed, wired through cig lighter in console. Keep blowing that fuse, was a 15,then a 20,now I'm tying a 25. Is this safe, and anyone else having this same problem?
No it's not safe. Fuse 1 and 7 are the two cigarette lighter circuits and both are 20 amp (2002 service manual). Installing a 25 amp fuse is an easy way to start a fire.
A wire must be shorting against the body or at their cigarette lighter connection. If it just blows all the time then it's probably something in the console wiring they did. If it only blows when you operate the cutouts, it's in the switch or something downstream.
They should make it right but being how it's not working, it would make me nervous having them work on my car.
