Default A Little Feedback please

I attached this to an older thread.. thought it may have been over looked....

Needs some advise and confirmation from those who have had these issues.... please post and let me know if I am on the right track.

I posted about my gas door issue and have figure out the problem but now that bothersome head light issue has come up.

I need a little confirmation on what I think is happening....

Gas door - there is no pressure on the plunger so I suspect the spring has gone away. Solenoid functions fine so I need to clean cable and replace the spring. The only way I kept the gas door shut was to hold it shut and push the emergency release in at the same time. Am I on the right track?

Headlight - they pop up but when I close them the right motor runs with a grinding sound of gears slipping. I am guessing that the plastic gear has stripped and needs replacement. Again does this sound correct.. I did notice that when I turn my light switch to the first stop, parking lights, the headlight pop up. I am sure they did not do that till this gear issue started. Has the gear thrown off a micro switch or something.

Thanks

your gas door appraisal seems correct also since the plunger doesn't return to the extended position (which the spring insures). it could also just be that the cable needs to be lubricated or some "gunk" needs to be cleaned away from the plunger tip that extends into the door opening. if the cable is easy to push back into position, the spring is probably shot. if it takes a bit of pressure to return the plunger to position it could be a combination of spring, lub and gunk or any combination of 2 of them.

Does sound like the headlight gears need replacement. Get the brass ones - they will last a lot longer.
