Ok, you all know the little plug things that attach a door panel to the door frame. I can't think of their name. Anyway, the factoy setup is a two peice design (male and Female parts). My driver's door has a 1970s 1 piece design, they work, but I don't think there as good, and I think eventually they will damage the door. I'd like to go back to a more factory design. The OEM parts are close to $7 per plug. So it would be about $40 just to fix my driver's door with GM parts. For that kind of money, I'll stay with the current set-up.
I've checked O'Riellys parts, and they don't have the OEM style plugs. Do any of you know of a Aftermarket plug that is like the OEM style?
Wow, that seemed like a lot of info for such a small part...

And I still don't have a clue what part you are talking about...lol
You talking about the plastic tree plug?
I was wondering about the two plugs behind the door pull. I have yet to find those and I'm missing one. I thought thats what the OP was referring to.
The plugs behind the handle are cheaper ($3-5 from a dealer). These little retainers are more expensive, that's what I'm trying to avoid.
If all else, I'll stick with the cheap one peice retainers.
I know the parts you are talking about to fasten the interior door panel to the door. I seem to recall paying about $6/pc and paid it because I wanted to get finished and wanted the best chance for the panel to fit tight. Agree cost to too high.
Checked GMPARTSHOUSE. .83 each. and $9.95 shipping........so I put in for 10, shipping remained $9.95 for the 10 pieces
Part # 10291929
Collision Catalog - 1999 - Chevrolet/Geo - Corvette
Door, Interior trim, Door trim panel, Retainer, Retainer Back
$0.83 ea.
10 count
Total: $8.30
Select shipping method: $9.95
So about $ 1.83 each shipped.............
The problem is that you are only looking at the male retainer. The female side is the grommet back and they are $5.54 each from GMPARTSHOUSE. And I need both the male and female sides.
I tried all the local parts places, NAPA, O'Rielys, Autozone, Advance Auto. None of them can get this style of retainer. GM must have a good patent on it. So, I just put my door back together as it was. Maybe next time I'll spend the money and get the right parts.
