.for this ticker is there a DIY on the forum? i wouldnt see it being very difficult but i dont know.. In your guys opinion..how easy is the corvette to work on. I come from German and Japanese imports and my GFs GM G6 etc etc..I heavly modified my audi TT and did anything and everything you can think of..14k worth of mods and maintenance stuff. that clutch/tranny/transfer case was not fun to drop (awd) nor the timing belt(hardest car ever to do, its a fact) so tell me a few things..Are these engines interference engines? timing belt breaks and slams pistons into valves and rebuild head as a result??? some common things i should know about the 04 c5 zo6 model itself? BTW anyone know what a good PSI range is for this car for compression test? 135 to 155. Psi? i guess its got older sts kit and was never raced all baby wasnt ever dragged etc etc running only 5psi boost..which im sure the kit is suppose to be at 7psi first upgrade will be a nice boost gauge and EGT/ A/F ratio gauge....tell me does this car have a wideband o2 for it? I know they are narrowband stock. I'm having some codes that are o2 related
P0141 and p0161. Bank1 sensor 2 heater circuit malfunction and bank 2 sensor 2 heater circuit malfunction Car goes limp mode after boost for awhile and engine is hOt ...sometimes get random cylinder misfire. Could the o2 sensors cause the engine to pull the timing and go lean? I need to find the problem fast. The water meth kit should with any detonation going on. If a cylinder was fried I think i would have misfires all the time. Not just in high boost. Right?..
thanks so much im a noobie to vettes but ive always loved the Z06 model..that body kits and hardtop is SEXY!!! thanks so much for eveyones input and you all SEEM AWESOME SOO FAR .....

No timing belt. There is a timing chain. If it breaks you could have some issues but there is less chance of it breaking than there is of a timing belt wearing out and breaking.
Left stock they are pretty much bullet proof. You can run them hard and long on a road course and they take it. I had a 97 for 6 years with several K road course miles. Never opened the engine, never even changed the plugs. Same for my 03Z which I had for 6 years. Had 43K on it when I sold it and 5K of those miles were on the track running hard.

Are/were you "8 UR V8" over on the Vortex? Did you sell that show piece of a TT you had?
Nope that wasn't me lol. Mine had about 320 crank cuz of water meth. They come stock with 225 crank. Also had it race or auto cross ready. Just never got around to tracking it. Sold it when I test drove the 135i. And now I'm missing both since they never gave me problems. This vette is such a beast I just want it to be safe and not detonate on me and blow the engine or head etc. I have a heating issue somewhere. Only when it gets hot does it stumble or go limp mode after boosting for awhile. I'm ordering my water meth kit here soon and maybe hp tuners cable to see if it's even tuned right.

My 2nd Garage Queen/Money Pit is an '02 TT ALMS in Misano Red with some mods. Was going to sell if after I got the QS Z but the market is horrendous and I wasn't about to give it away so...2 garage queens
First off, welcome to the CF. The specific problems you're having are all tuning related, and the STS system need expert tuning to operate well. Go to the FI section of the forum for info regarding your TT, and tuning related questions. On a general note, the Corvette, and all LS series motors are very easy to work on, and take to modifications well. However, tuning is extremely important to acheiving full function, and reliability. If you're having detonation issues, I would suggest a full compression test if you havent' bought this car yet. The stock motor is prone to damaging the pistons when driven while detonation is occuring, and I don't have to tell you, that the motor is under more stress when it's got a FI system added. You also have to be aware of gas quality, and octane content.
