Default Oil pressure replacement

There was a fix for the oil pressure sender, to replace it thru a hole cut in the cowl, under the wiper tray. Anyone have a link to this? i just repalced it when I did my BBK intake, but it failed again. First went to 80 lbs, then started to jump from 0-40-50-80......

Remove wiper blades and remove windshield drain pan cover. Cover is removed by removing the center of the plastic rivets, then just plull out rivets. Locate oil sender by looking in the back of right side of engine. Cut hole in the bottom of drain pan ( fiberglass ) using scocket remove old oil sending unit thru hole. Replace with new unit, use teflon tape and torgue to no greater that 11 ft lbs. Clean electrical plug with degreaser and reconnect to sender. Fill cut hole with a trunk pan drain plug or home made cover. Replace drain pan grill and wiper blades. Your done. I have had a serious stroke and I did mine in about one hour. If it goes bad again it is now easy to replace. This hole, will cover, which you cannot see is no worse that a non production relocate.

I have several files that talk about the sensor relocation. If you'd like a copy, PM me your e-mail address. One file is nearly 11MB in size, so hope it would go through.

not a good idea unless you seal the hole back.
I have a working theory that water is what is causing the failures.
I replaced one one day and ad the cowl off and it rained and as soon as it got wet the sensor went crazy. flash forward a few months I had it replaced and had the cowl off to have it painted and poof rain storm and sensor died.
thanks to advance and their guarantee it was replaced and I did a test and poured some water on it while it was running and someone watching the gauge. water hit the gauge and sensor died.

the last time I wrapped it up with heat shrink tubing and sealed it with silicone and took it to a car wash and sprayed it for 2 minutes and it worked fine.
I drove it 2 weeks and had some rain and no problems.

I believe that water and the location where water can drip right down on it and short out the connections is the cause of all the problems.
everyone that has relocated them and moved them where they are on their side does not have as many recurring problems.

Thanks to all who responded. I found the posting anyway. Made the cut & discovered that if you have an aftermarket intake, like I do..a BBK ,the socket will not fit because of the fitting at the back of the manifold. I am going to fabricate a special socket tomorrow when I get back to work by cutting down a 1-1/16 socket and welding it to a 13/16 deep socket. The narrower 13/16 socket just clears the fitting and goes over the sensor body

Thanks again,
Doug
